Lesser Hive is full of wasps and can yield excellent experience for those able to clear group battles. Elemental wizards can excel here due to the wasps weakness to fire (fireball spell). Lower level characters, especially hitters who take melee damage, will benefit from obtaining poison resist enchants, bringing poison cure items, or grouping with a wizard that has Thuam poison reduction/cure.
